The cities and villages flourished with wealth and food. People lived happily, as though they were in the golden age of Kritayuga.

After reigning for eleven thousand years, he would return to the heavenly realm of Brahmaloka.
Rama established many royal dynasties and ensured that each caste fulfilled its duties.
By reading and reciting the Ramayana, people would be freed from sins and blessed with long lives, honored in heaven with their families.
Thus ends the first chapter of the Balakanda, the holy Ramayana, as composed by sage Valmiki.
