Sage Valmiki's Reverence and Reflections by the Tamasa River

Once, the wise sage Valmiki, known for his beautiful verses and great virtue, was visited by the divine sage Narada.

After hearing about Rama from Narada, Valmiki, with deep respect, honored him along with his followers.

Pleased with the reverence shown, Narada took his leave and returned to the heavenly realms.

After Narada’s departure, Valmiki went to the river Tamasa, which lay not far from the mighty Ganges, to perform his morning rituals.

Arriving at the riverbank, he admired the clear, serene waters and spoke to his disciple, Bharadwaja.

“Look at the lovely, peaceful waters of this river,” Valmiki said. “This sacred place is as pure as the heart of a virtuous person. Please place the pitcher down and hand me my garment. I wish to take a dip in this holy river.”

Obediently, Bharadwaja gave Valmiki his bark garment. With his senses well-controlled, Valmiki donned the garment and wandered through the expansive forest surrounding the river, taking in the beauty of his surroundings.
