Sudha Kongara on Working with Akshay Kumar in Sarfira: "He Was Unhappy for 6 Days"

Sudha Kongara, the producer of the hit movie Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya, is now working on its Hindi adaptation called Sarfira with Akshay Kumar.

In a recent interview, Sudha shared the challenges she faced during the first week of working with Akshay.

She initially wanted him to replicate Suriya's performance, which made him uncomfortable.

Akshay later explained his own method of acting, which led to better understanding between them.

Sudha mentioned in an interview with Galatta Plus that she has known Suriya for over 25 years, making it easier to communicate her expectations to him.

Working with Akshay was different because it was her first time meeting him, and she had to address him as "sir."

For the first six days, Akshay was unhappy and questioned the tasks he was given.

He and the producer discussed this with Sudha, and she decided to give him more freedom, promising to guide him if needed.

Sudha realized she had to let go of her expectations of Suriya's performance and allow Akshay to bring his own approach to the role.

After six days of filming, Sudha showed Akshay a clip of a particular scene.

The next day, Akshay called her and said that while he had his own way of acting, he was trying to understand her vision.

He was making an effort to meet her expectations, which Sudha appreciated.

From that point on, they got along well and enjoyed working together.

Lessons Learned

Flexibility in Leadership: Sudha learned the importance of being flexible and open to different approaches. Initially, she wanted Akshay to mimic Suriya's performance, but she realized that allowing him to use his own method was more effective.

Effective Communication: Open and honest communication is crucial. Akshay expressed his discomfort, leading to a discussion that improved their working relationship.

Respect Individuality: Recognizing and respecting each person's unique talents and methods can lead to better outcomes. Sudha adapted her approach to suit Akshay's style, which benefited the project.

Building Understanding: Developing mutual understanding and trust is essential for a successful collaboration. Sudha and Akshay's relationship improved once they understood each other's perspectives.

Adaptation and Growth: Being open to change and willing to adapt can lead to personal and professional growth. Sudha's willingness to change her approach allowed her to work effectively with Akshay.
