Anya had been pondering over Varun’s confession.
It was surreal to think that he had admired her from afar for so long.
As she delved deeper into her memories, a particular incident came to mind - the disastrous interview.
She remembered how nervous she had been, how she had stumbled over her words.
And then, there was Varun, the intimidating interviewer who had seemed determined to make her fail.
Anya decided to confront Varun about it. She wanted to know why he had behaved so coldly during that interview.
"Varun, I've been thinking about that interview," she began, her voice hesitant. "Why did you act so... harsh?"
Varun was taken aback. He hadn't expected her to bring up the past. "I'm sorry about that," he said. "I was going through a tough time, and I took it out on you."
Anya was still confused. "But why? Why would you sabotage my chances?" she asked.
Varun hesitated. "It was stupid," he admitted. "I was jealous. I saw potential in you, and I was afraid that if you got the job, you would leave."
Anya was shocked.
She had never imagined that his actions had been motivated by jealousy. "You were jealous of me?" she asked, incredulous.
Varun nodded. "I know it sounds ridiculous now, but at the time, it felt real."
Anya couldn't help but smile. "Well, I'm glad you got over it," she said. "Because now, here we are."
As they talked, Anya realized that she had misjudged Varun.
He was not the arrogant, self-centered person she had once thought him to be.
He was a complex individual, capable of both great kindness and great folly.
And as she looked into his eyes, she knew that she was falling deeper in love with him.
