Vishu is a festival celebrated by the Malayalee-speaking community of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and other parts of India.
Vishu is observed on the 15th of April 2023, Saturday.
Vishu festival is celebrated by keeping auspicious things in one place called Vishukkani.
Malayalis keep golden blossoms of the Kani Konna (also called Kani Poo), different grocery items, new clothes, rice, coconut, fruits, harvest products, flowers, silver or gold items, and money in front of a mirror and Lord Vishnu's image or idol and see them early morning.
Then they take a holy bath, wear new clothes and visit temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu or Krishna or Guruvayurappan.
They also pay a visit to their elderly relatives' houses to get their blessings and also receive a small token of cash money.
Back home, they prepare a special feast using the same food items kept before the Gods and enjoy the festival by spending quality time with their family members.
