Maharashtra Day is celebrated on 1st May every year. The day marks the formation of Maharashtra, which is a Marathi-speaking state in India.
Bombay
Reorganisation Act in 1960 categorized the state of Bombay into two states called
Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Earlier,
Bombay state had four major languages called Marathi, Kutchi, Gujarati, and
Konkani.
Marathi and
Konkani-speaking people stayed back in Maharashtra while Gujarati and
Kutchi-speaking people settled in Gujarat.
Usually Maharashtra
Day is a state government or public holiday in the state. People dress up in
their cultural attire and observe the day with full enthusiasm.
Here are some messages
and wishes on Maharashtra Day 2023:
1) Let us celebrate
the special day of Maharashtra Day with full energy so that we can remind our
children how blessed they are to live in such a huge state. Happy Maharashtra
Day 2023.
2) Let us
thank our ancestors and all the great leaders who strived hard back then to get
a special status to the state of Maharashtra. It is their efforts and
contribution that we are able to enjoy the benefits of living in this state.
Happy Maharashtra Day 2023.
3) Let us
all come together and stay united irrespective of what is our mother language
or community. When unitedly we work hard and make progress, that’s when the
state of Maharashtra will also prosper and make a mark not just in India but
all over the world.
