The incident with Priya had left Anya disturbed.
The thought of being linked to Varun, a man she barely knew, was unsettling.
For days, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
She knew she had to confront him, to understand how this misunderstanding had arisen.
Determined to clear the air, Anya decided to approach Varun directly.
She found him alone in the pantry, a rare sight.
"Varun," she began, her voice barely a whisper. "We need to talk."
Varun's eyes widened in surprise. He had been avoiding her, hoping to let the incident fade away.
But now, he was cornered.
"Sure, Anya. What's on your mind?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
Anya took a deep breath. "How did Priya get the impression that we were involved?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Varun hesitated. "It was a long time ago," he began, his voice low.
"A misunderstanding, really. We were friends once, and I guess she got the wrong idea."
Anya was not satisfied with his vague explanation.
She wanted to know the truth, no matter how painful it might be.
But she could see that Varun was reluctant to share any more details.
"Okay," she said, finally. "I understand. Let's just move on."
With that, she turned and walked away.
As she left the pantry, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story.
Varun had a secret, a secret that he was determined to keep hidden.
