Raghu had been anxiously waiting for a response from the company he had interviewed with, and when the call finally came, it brought with it an overwhelming sense of achievement.
He had been offered the position of Marketing Associate at a well-known company.
The news felt surreal to him. After all the hard work and struggles with his ATKT exams, the job offer felt like the final piece of a puzzle coming together.
Feeling incredibly grateful, Raghu knew he had to return to college, not only to thank his professors but also to meet the one person who had been a constant in his journey—Reena.
His interactions with her, though brief, had meant a lot to him, and he wanted to express his gratitude in person.
The next day, Raghu arrived at the college campus, a box of sweets in hand.
He walked through the familiar hallways, taking in the sights and sounds of a place that had been his second home for so long.
First, he visited the faculty members who had supported him throughout his time at college, thanking them for their guidance and encouragement.
After a few rounds of appreciation and smiles, Raghu made his way to the spot where he knew he would find Reena—outside the library, as usual.
Reena was standing there, talking to a few of her friends when she saw Raghu approaching.
Her face lit up with a bright smile as Raghu walked toward her, the sweets in hand.
“Raghu!” she greeted him warmly. “It’s so nice to see you again! What brings you back to college?”
Raghu grinned, his eyes twinkling with excitement. “I wanted to come back and thank the faculty for all their support. But most importantly, I wanted to see you. I’ve got some good news!”
Reena raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. “Good news? What happened?”
Raghu handed her the box of sweets. “I got a new job! I’m officially a Marketing Associate at a company. Can you believe it?”
Reena’s eyes widened in surprise, and then she broke into a huge smile. “Raghu, that’s amazing! Congratulations! I’m so happy for you!”
Raghu smiled back, feeling genuinely touched by her enthusiasm. “Thanks, Reena. I couldn’t have gotten here without the support of people like you.”
Reena blushed at his words, not knowing how to respond. It felt so natural, talking to Raghu like this, but hearing him speak with such sincerity made her feel a warmth in her chest.
Raghu hesitated for a moment before continuing. “I also wanted to do something else… I know we’ve been talking on Facebook now, but if you ever need anything, Reena—whether it's advice or just someone to talk to—please feel free to call me. I’m here for you anytime.”
He handed her a slip of paper with his phone number on it.
Reena’s cheeks turned a shade of pink as she looked up at him.
She was touched by his words, feeling blessed to have someone like him in her life.
“Thank you, Raghu,” she said softly, her voice almost shy. “I really appreciate that.”
Not wanting to leave things hanging, Reena quickly pulled out her phone from her bag and said, “And here’s my number. I just opened a WhatsApp account, so now we can talk more easily. I’m glad we’re friends.”
Raghu took her number with a warm smile. “Of course, Reena. I’m glad too.”
He felt a genuine connection to her, and his words came from a place of trust and friendship. “We’ll stay in touch, okay?”
Their conversation continued for a little while longer before Raghu, with a mischievous grin, suddenly said, “By the way, I’m having a small birthday party this weekend. I’d love for you to come. I’ll be introducing you to my family too!”
Reena’s eyes widened in surprise. “A birthday party? Of course, I’ll come! But I’m sure your family is really busy…”
Raghu shook his head. “They’re really excited to meet you. I’ve told them a lot about you, Reena. And they’re eager to get to know the friend who’s been a part of my college journey.”
Reena felt a warm rush of emotions as Raghu spoke. To know that he had mentioned her to his family, that they were excited to meet her, made her feel truly valued. She smiled brightly. “I’ll be there, Raghu. I’m really looking forward to it.”
As the day wore on, Reena couldn’t stop thinking about the friendship that was slowly blossoming between her and Raghu.
The unexpected bond they had formed had only deepened, and with each passing moment, she felt more and more fortunate to have someone like Raghu in her life.
The weekend arrived, and Reena, dressed in her best, made her way to Raghu’s house, where the birthday celebration was taking place.
The party was lively, filled with laughter and joy. Raghu introduced her to his parents, who were warm and welcoming, eager to know more about the girl who had become so important to their son.
“I’ve heard so much about you, Reena,” Raghu’s mother said with a smile. “Raghu tells us you’ve been helping him out, and I just want to say thank you. You’re a special person to him.”
Reena blushed, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the warmth of Raghu’s family. “It’s really nothing. I’m just happy to be there for Raghu.”
Raghu’s father also expressed his gratitude. “We’re glad he has someone like you to talk to. You seem like a kind-hearted person.”
As the evening wore on, Reena realized just how much Raghu had become a part of her life.
Their friendship had blossomed in ways she hadn’t expected, and seeing how warmly his family embraced her only solidified the bond they were forming.
As the night ended, Raghu and Reena shared a quiet moment before she left.
“Thank you for coming, Reena,” Raghu said, his voice full of sincerity. “It means a lot to me that you’re here. You’re a true friend.”
Reena smiled, feeling a deep sense of gratitude. “And thank you for everything, Raghu. I’m so happy we met.”
As they said their goodbyes, both of them knew that this friendship had grown into something special.
Though their paths were different, their connection was undeniable, and it was a bond that neither of them would let go of anytime soon.
